New York State law requires that fire commissioner elections be held on the second Tuesday in December from 6:00PM to 9:00PM.
The next election for the position of Fire Commissioner will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at the Pound Ridge Fire Department, 80 Westchester Avenue.
*Because of the Special Election on the Referendum for a Bond to update the firehouse, the 2022 election will have extended hours: 1:00PM to 9:00PM.
To vote in fire commissioner elections, a person must be a registered voter who has been a resident of the fire district for at least 30 days and who is registered to vote at their Pound Ridge Fire District address.
There are five (5) fire commissioners at any given time, on an overlapping term schedule so that one seat comes up each year. A fire commissioner must be a US Citizen, a resident of the fire district, and never have been convicted of arson in any degree.
Candidates for Fire Commissioner must file their names in writing with the Secretary of the Pound Ridge Fire District no later than November 23, 2022.
Filing deadline for the 2022 Fire Commissioner Election is November 23, 2022. This election is for a seat on the Board of Fire Commissioners for a term of five (5) years, to commence on January 1, 2023 and end on December 31, 2027.
